A WARRIOR

I am a warrior
In the battleground of life
I struggle really hard
To save the breath of life

I was trapped at the enemy’s gate
Up close I saw the faces that I hate
I had little hope I’d escape
Shed blood from up my nape

The enemy caught me
Was to take the life out of me
I closed my eyes; I awaited death
When I opened them, I was safe in my bed

So I became a dreamer
Wished someday to become a winner,
For years I was lost in thought
Imagined victory in every war I fought

I woke up from sleep a loser
Defeat I accepted at first I was bitter
But in that state I realized my fight wasn’t over
For winning a battle sometimes means a sweet surrender.

The Magic of Writing

It has always been my dream to be able to be what I want to be- a writer. I have always imagined myself being able to freely express my ideas in writing. Studying literature created in me a passion to express my thoughts by putting them in the written word. I know very well the impact of the power of words to those who perceive and interpret them. The effect can be as insignificant as a shrug of shoulders but it can be as enormous and life-changing as deciding to quit your job.
The fulfillment of producing a literary piece is indescribable. Once, I remember myself in an utterly depressing situation but then when I started scribbling words with the pen and paper, the negative feelings magically vanished. It was then when I discovered a very creative way to ward off stress and depression: “write!”
From then on, writing has become my habit, my passion, my stress reliever, and I believe, my profession (even if I don’t get paid doing it). I learned to write and express myself not only during my unhappy moments but also whenever I believe I have something good to say.
At first, my only audience was myself but I also learned that writing can be more fulfilling if shared to people dear to you (or even not dear to you). Not only do you share them what you know, but they also get to learn something more about you. You and your reader, even if you do not know the reader, share this special mystical bond that only writing can create.
So who says you need a wand or a fairy godmother or enroll at Hogwarts to do magic? The answer is crystal clear, simply, write!
